BATWATCH REPORT (June 4th, 2025)
An update from the BAT-tle front - our yard.
Standing outside my house with the Echo Meter 2, this is how it went down.
🦇 Fat Eddie the Silverhair bat flapped out to start the party
🦇🦇 Fat Eddie and his lady friend flapped in tandem over my rhododendron ❤️
👿 Intense, Angry Yuma Myotis chirps - loud and nearby!
🚫 No stream of bats pouring out of the house - but every sudden step triggers a wave of LOUD sonar chips.
👁️🎤 They are watching me. (I HOPE they are in the bat boxes!)💩 Backside of my house near septic.
↗️ One Little Brown bat buzzes up from lower down the hill
😬 Another buzzes just above my head - probably not mad at me, but aiming for the bugs near the septic tank
🧛 Walking back up my driveway, I hear loud crashing in the woods and a snorting/wheezing call, maybe 20 feet away. Probably a deer 🦌
Fat Eddie says goodnight. The moon comes up. 🌔
This is my life. So far so good, no bats in the house or attic.
Tomorrow, we release more rehabbed bats at the park! Stay tuned.
